Needs of Students
The strength of family ties in the Native American Community has a lot to do with participation in social clubs and other community organizations.
Students need specific needs that cater to their own language and culture to help them learn. Native Americans in particular need to focus on maintaining their language while also emerging themselves into the American culture.
It would help best if there were activities all groups could do together to have a community togetherness and have everyones culture show. Using equity pedagogy to further develop the things we have our students do.
Equity pedagogy- support the achievements of students of diverse backgrounds
If we could add the equity pedagogy to the our curriculum it would help us broaden out perspectives on teaching other cultures.
Teacher strategies:
Here are some ways we, as teachers, can help our students feel more comfortable and willing to learn.
If we as teachers followed these methods we could meet the needs of our multicultural students. The needs multicultural students are focused around are language barriers and cultural acceptance, if we as teachers can provide that I think the students will have more focus and better knowledge.
Us as teachers need to learn how to adapt to others who learn different than the rest and how to teach a diverse range of races in the classroom. This helps with making everyone comfortable in their own skins and will eliminate bullying among students and will open them up to learning.
Using a wide range of teaching techniques and including all modalities(types of learning styles):
Using all theses approaches I think that all needs of students will be met and have the best classroom experiences they can that will help them thrive as multicultural students.
